Printing poster in DIN A0 format with the HP Designjet Z5200ps

• Use the PDF- or PostScript file format for the file you intend to print as poster.
  The paper size must be DIN A0 (841 x 1189 mm or 33,11 x 46,81 in, or 2384 x 3371 pts) - or smaller.
  You can check the correct size, e.g., with help of the tool "pdfinfo".
  
  It is also recommended to use only embedded fonts, this can be checked, e.g., with "pdffonts". About embedding fonts:

  • Use pdfLaTeX instead of LaTeX (+ dvips + ps2pdf) and convert included PostScript figures with the tool "epstopdf".
    
    
• If your poster is in PostScript format (e.g, poster.ps), please convert it to PDF, e.g., with help of ghostscript, using th following options:
  
  gs -dAutoRotatePages=/None -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -dPDFSETTINGS=/prepress
  -dMaxSubsetPct=100 -dSubsetFonts=true -dEmbedAllFonts=true
  -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=poster.pdf -sPAPERSIZE=a0
  -c save pop -c "<> setpagedevice" -f poster.ps
  
  
• Colors: the printed colors mighgt look different from those shown on your display or on a printout with a color laser printer.
  If you need a specific color you may have a look on the "1000 colors" info poster in room 2.136.
  The printer uses the following 8 inks: magenta, yellow, cyan, light magenta, light cyan, photo black, light gray, matte black
  
  
• The pint-out paper (roll) has a width of 914 mm or 1067 mm respectively.
  The margins of the print-out paper are limited to at least 5 mm by the printer.
  If you use a non-white background, this margin will be visible as a white frame.
  The printable area may be even smaller due to specifications of the printer driver.
  The paper is cutted by the printer to the height of A0 (1189 mm) and a crop mark at the right margin will be added by the printer.
  
  
• Hand in the print file via email ( ) to me (H. Todt 2.004).
  
  
• Note that if printing on glossy paper, ink can smudge on the printout even after the required drying time of approx. 1h.
  
  
• After printing you can pick up the poster and cut it in room 2.119.

• Erstellen Sie Ihre Druckdatei im PDF- oder PostScript-Format mit der Papiergröße DIN A0 (841 x 1189 mm, bzw. 2384 x 3371 pts).
  Dies kann z.B. mit dem Tool "pdfinfo" überprüft werden.

• Farben: die ausgedruckten Farben können anders als in der Darstellung am Monitor oder auf dem Ausdruck eines Farblaserdruckers aussehen.
  Falls eine bestimmte Farbe gewünscht wird, ist vielleicht das Infoposter "1000 colors" im Raum 2.134 hilfreich.
  Der Drucker verwendet die folgenden 8 Tinten: Magenta, Gelb, Zyan, helles Magenta, helles Zyan, Fotoschwarz, helles Grau, Mattschwarz
  
  
• Das Rollenpapier ist 914 mm bzw. 1067 mm breit.
  Die Ränder der verwendeten Rollmedien werden vom Plotter auf minimal 5 mm begrenzt, jedoch wird der bedruckbare Bereich auch durch Treiberanweisungen festgelegt.
  Falls Sie einen nicht-weißen Hintergrund verwenden, werden die Ränder als "weißer Rahmen" sichtbar.
  Das Papier wird vom Drucker auf die Höhe von DIN A0 (1189 mm) beschnitten,
  am rechten Rand wird eine Schnittmarke hinzugefügt.
  
  
• Das Plotfile kann per E-Mail ( ) an mich übergeben werden (H. Todt, Raum 2.004).
  
  
• Beim Ausdrucken auf Hochglanzpapier kann es passieren, dass die aufgedruckte Farbe auch noch nach der vorgeschriebenen Trocknungszeit von ca. 1h noch verwischt.
  
  
• Das fertige Poster kann nach dem Trocknen im Raum 2.119 zurechtgeschnitten werden.
